THE PERIOD CHAMPIONS PROGRAMME
For too long, boys have been excluded from menstrual education. This gap in menstrual education, especially in a patriarchal society like ours, has led to boys and men inadvertently reinforcing menstrual stigma and taboos. Our Period Champions Programme is designed to change this.
It’s all about equipping boys with comprehensive and stigma-busting menstrual education, alongside the knowledge and resources to challenge period poverty and stigma. Through interactive sessions, we debunk menstrual taboos, promote empathy, and empower boys to become champions of menstrual equity.
These boys transform from being unaware to becoming active voices in their schools and communities, speaking up against period stigma and supporting their peers. Many have led school discussions, challenged misinformation, and even taken steps to address period poverty by advocating for better menstrual health resources.
With over 300 Period Champions across schools in Nigeria, our programme is cultivating a generation of boys who challenge menstrual stigma, advocate for menstrual equity, and drive positive change in their communities.
