The PERIOD DIGNITY PROJECT
Central to our Period Dignity Project is the advancement of positive and comprehensive menstrual education for everyone and increasing access to period products to help girls stay in school.
We believe educating everyone about menstruation is crucial to breaking the cycle of shame and stigma. This is why, more than just providing period products, our team focuses on debunking menstrual taboos during our Period Dignity outreaches. We help girls understand their bodies, how to manage their periods safely and stay period proud amidst widespread period stigma. Essentially, we encourage girls to speak more openly about periods in order to normalise them.

Bringing boys into the conversation
Long before now, boys have been excluded from conversations about menstrual health and rights. A lack of this education in a patriarchal society like ours has led to boys/men internalising and reinforcing menstrual stigma and taboos.
To address this issue, we design menstrual literacy programs for boys where they learn about menstrual health and rights. We debunk menstrual taboos and equip them with resources to become champions of period equity. With over 300 Period Champions across schools in Nigeria, we have raised boys who are now our allies in advancing period-positive conversations and challenging period poverty/stigma in their communities.
