The EME Foundation Launches Menstrual Health Peer Education Programme at Government Secondary School, Gwarinpa
The EME Foundation is excited to announce the launch of our Menstrual Health Peer Education Programme at Government Secondary School, Gwarinpa, Abuja, on February 28, 2025. This programme aims to empower schoolgirls by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to become advocates for menstrual health, while also addressing period poverty and stigma within their school and community.
Over the course of this four-week programme, 24 girls from the school will receive training on key topics such as menstrual hygiene, the challenges of period poverty, and how to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. Additionally, the programme will focus on developing leadership skills, enabling the girls to become effective advocates and educators in their communities.
At the end of the programme, the girls will be certified as Peer Educators and will organise an outreach event, where they will educate their peers on menstruation. The event will also feature the distribution of menstrual products to girls in need, ensuring that every girl has access to the resources necessary for managing her period with dignity.
This initiative marks a significant step in changing the narrative around menstruation, promoting menstrual equity, and empowering girls to lead the charge for positive change in their communities. We are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to the lasting impact this programme will have on the girls of Government Secondary School, Gwarinpa, and beyond.
Stay connected for updates as we continue to work towards a future where every girl has the tools to thrive.
